Polly Kettenacker Therapy

Counselling and psychotherapy in London BriDGE, Croydon and online

Why therapy?

Life can feel overwhelming at times -emotions, relationships, and patterns that keep repeating can leave us anxious, stuck, or confused.

I work with people who want to understand themselves better, find steadier ways of relating, or explore the impact of early experiences, challenging situations or tricky relationships.

Welcome. My name is Polly and I am a qualified counsellor. I provide a calm, steady space where we can make sense of difficult feelings, recurring patterns or new challenges in your life.

Maybe you feel anxious, flat, frustrated, or unsure why certain situations affect you so strongly.

Perhaps you notice patterns in relationships — feeling quickly overwhelmed, fearing rejection, shutting down, pushing boundaries, feeling "bad", "wrong" or “too much".

These responses may seem confusing now - but often they make sense as ways in which we learnt to protect ourselves when we were young. What matters is that you don’t have to face it alone.

We will work at a pace that feels right for you, exploring patterns and building new ways of relating to yourself and others. I welcome all your feelings - including those that feel messy, intense or hard to name. Together, we will try to understand, rather than judge, what's going on for you.

About me

I am a qualified counsellor. I aim to see you as a whole person — not just a set of symptoms — and shape our work around you: your history, relationships and the ways you have learned to cope.

I work at depth, which means that I am interested in how early experiences shape the ways we relate to ourselves and others.

But I don’t believe our past determines our future. With the right support, you can find new ways of relating that feel steadier and give you more choice.

I have a Diploma in Integrative Counselling from the Minster Centre in London, and am registered with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I have over two years of clinical experience, working with clients in short-term NHS talking therapies and longer term in community low-cost settings.
